The Truth Nobody Talks About

When people come to work with me, they tell me they’ve tried everything—from doctors and dietitians to fitness trainers and traditional therapy. Despite investing thousands of dollars and countless hours, they still struggle to maintain results. They've internalized the belief that something must be wrong with them.

The Leaky Bucket Metaphor

Imagine your weight loss journey is like trying to fill a bucket with water. Diet and exercise are the water you pour in. You prep your meals, you plan your workouts, you stick to the plan… until something happens.

A stressful meeting. A lonely evening. A fight with your spouse.

Suddenly, a tub of ice cream is calling your name.

Before you know it, all your hard work leaks right out of the bottom of the bucket. Why? Because no one taught you that you need to patch the holes in your bucket BEFORE you focus on diet and exercise. 

These ‘holes’ represent the deeper, underlying mechanisms that sabotage your best intentions—your stress response, emotional triggers, ingrained habits, and the identity you’ve unconsciously built over time.

Why We Sabotage Ourselves

Let me be clear: this is not a character flaw. It’s a biological and psychological pattern. When you're triggered (think irritated, overwhelmed,frustrated or sad), your nervous system switches  into survival mode. 

When those triggers go unaddressed, they override logic and good intentions. You reach for the nachos or ice cream not because you want to fail, but because you’ve developed a learned response.

And every failed attempt builds on the next, creating a feedback loop called learned helplessness—a neural groove that tells your brain, “See? We can’t do this.”

The Real Work: Fixing the Holes

So what should you do instead?

You learn to fix the holes in the bucket. You learn how to regulate your nervous system, how to understand and rewire your sabotaging beliefs, how to build awareness and RESILIENCE around triggers before they derail you. 

It’s about reverse-engineering your responses. It’s about learning how change really happens—physiologically, neurologically, and emotionally.

This is the methodology I’ve spent over 20 years developing and refining. And I’ve seen it completely transform lives.

When you repair the leaks, everything changes:

  • Food becomes neutral—not the enemy or a coping mechanism.

  • You gain confidence in your ability to make aligned choices.
